Jewellery Valuers in the UK
Jewellery Appraisers in the UK are more commonly known as Jewellery Valuers. Historically they tend to work more directly with retail jewellers, carrying out valuations on the retailer's behalf. Increasingly, this is changing and most valuers now deal both with the trade and directly with private clients.
The organsiations with the largest membership in the UK are the Institute of Registered Valuers and the Jewellery Valuers Association, and many insurance companies will now only accept valuations for insurance replacement from members and fellows of these associations, so look out for the post nominals FIRV and FJVA.
