About this Valuer

Based in the world heritage city of Bath, The Guild of Valuers & Jewellers is one of the leading specialists in providing professional jewellery, watch and silverware valuation and registration services.

Their ‘total valuation solution’ includes drop off and collection through many of the leading high street multiple and independent jewellers, one-to-one appointments at home, at the office, at organised events around the country and by appointment at their offices in Bath.

At the heart of all their services is their bespoke software GuildPro providing consistently formatted documents regardless of the item being valued. This includes a full description including stone weights, qualities, metal type, images and value. Once completed the information is uploaded to the central e-register database where clients can apply for access and add further Guild valuations in the future. With permission insurers can also access through a dedicated website and use for underwriting purposes as required. Should the item be lost or stolen in the future validating the loss is no longer guesswork − the details are all there.

Their team of valuers, both employed and contracted, have many years of experience in the field of valuation and they are constantly improving their knowledge through continued professional development. Six of their team are Fellows of the Institute of Registered Valuers, the highest standard currently obtainable from the National Association of Jewellers in the UK. All other valuers are either Members of the Institute of Registered Valuers or have suitable trade specific qualifications.

Predominantly valuing for insurance replacement purposes they also carry out valuations for probate (confirmation of will in Scotland), and Open Market.

Prompt Service

I needed my engagement ring valued for insurance purposes as it was purchased in Dubai. Chris was extremely helpful and responded quickly to my emails and questions. On arrival I met with Dwain who was very nice and went through the valuation process. I left my ring in to be valued at 09.30 and got a phonecall at 11.30 informing me the process was complete. Overall, I would highly recommend.

Good Report, Good Service

We needed a UK valuation for jewellery we had purchased in Dubai, as requested by our insurer. I researched online and the Guild of Valuers and Jewellers seem to be the most recognised authority. I visit Bath occasionally and it was convenient to take the items to their office. I contacted them by email and the cost per item seemed very fair. The report received is comprehensive and valuation figures, as far as I can tell, are accurate for ‘insurance purposes’, and higher than I expected. I brought the items in at 09.00 and the report was available for collection at 13.00.
