Jewelry Trade Associations in the US
Below is a list of industry associations and organisations connected to the jewelry trade in the United States. Inevitably there are overlapping areas, but can be categorised as:
- Gemological Associations - Usually dedicated to education in gemstones and diamonds.
- Appraiser Associations - Education and training is a large part of most of these associations activities. They are typically involved with the marketing of members' appraisal services too.
- Retail Jeweler Associations - These typically are involved in promoting jewelry and watches and protecting their members' interests. There are usually few criteria required for membership, but some offer extensive training courses to set their membership apart from retail jewelers who are not within their organisation. Some offer stores specialist financial services and third-party discount facilities.
- Industry Support Organisations - These organisations are not involved in promoting any sector of the industry but offer legal guidance and mediation services to all areas of the gem and jewelry trade.
- Ancillary Industry Associations - These are associations that are connected to gem and jewelry appraisal obliquely, for example, training and governing bodies dealing with Expert Witnesses
The American Jewelry Industry Associations shown below, are arranged alphabetically.
