About this Appraiser
Deborah Finleon is an independent appraiser providing appraisal services to exclusive retailers and private clients in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
A GIA Graduate Gemologist and NAJA Certified Master Appraiser, Ms. Finleon founded DJF Appraisal Services after years of industry experience including jewelry design, retail sales, and appraisal. Her work today encompasses a wide range of appraisal services, from insurance and estate reports to gemstone treatment identification, damage evaluation, and general consulting. A member of the Association of Independent Jewellery Valuers, Ms. Finleon does not buy, sell, or broker jewelry.
Ms. Finleon also serves as Associate Director of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, where she is Chair of Education. In this capacity, she was lead editor of the newly revised NAJA Appraisal Studies Course and will be tasked with keeping it current, as well as developing the online version of the course. In addition, Ms. Finleon supports the Executive Director in course development and conference proceedings.
Ms. Finleon writes articles on appraisal education, and presents at industry conferences and meetings.

Deborah was absolutely DIVINE. Professional, courteous, and made the experience seemless. The apparaisal was efficient even though Deborah still answered any and all my questions. I went to Ms. Finleon for an insurance appraisal for one piece of jewelry, and her service was fantastic. She was clear and transparent about her appraisal process, and she was courteous and timely in her work. I plan to go to her for any appraisal needs in the future. She was recommended by established local jewelers, so she clearly has a strong reputation in the DC area.

Deborah came highly recommended by a respected, 65-year established Jewelry store in Alexandria. She is extremely responsive, knowledgeable and professional. I brought her 13 items, some of which were designer brands purchased in Tiffany and Bergdorf-Goodman decades ago; and others in Italy and Hong Kong.
In each case she was able to research the item for a insurance replacement value. In addition to being familiar with U.S. products, she was able to pin point the exact company and city origins of an 18k gold brooch purchased in Italy.
She provided a bound, detailed summary with scope of work, processes, conditions, individual item descriptions and assessment with photo, and stamped signature.
