About this Appraiser

AGS Jewelry Appraisal Services specialize in insurance and estate appraisals for contemporary and antique jewelry, diamonds, gems and watches in the Honolulu area. The business is headed by Sandra Dougherty a Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

She has successfully completed the prescribed courses in gemology and appraisal methodology of the American Gem Society and also has completed the requirements to earn the title of Certified Insurance Appraiser. (CIA). Sandra has been employed in the jewelry industry for over forty years, and has been appraising independently for more than 25 years. She is a member of The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers and subscribes to a strict code of ethical standards. All appraisals are performed in conformity with USPAP requirements.

Sandra has a broad range of experience in all facets of the jewelry industry with extensive luxury retail experience and estate buying with American Gem Society stores across the United States. She has performed thousands of appraisal assignments to consumers, the jewelry trade, insurance companies, banking institutions, law firms and government agencies

Sandra Dougherty established AGS jewelry appraisal services in Honolulu in 2003, seeing a need for an accredited independent unbiased gemologist appraiser. AGS is Honolulu's only independent jewelry appraisal service. Located on Bishop Square in downtown Honolulu. AGS offer independent and unbiased jewelry appraisal services direct to the public by appointment. Appraisals are performed while you wait and watch giving you the opportunity to participate and learn from the process. Sandra also owns a portable gemological lab which enables us to perform appraisals at your home, office or bank vault.
