Gem Appraisal Laboratory, Ltd. offers very detailed appraisals of loose gems, jewelry and watches for various purposes as well as gem identification, if you are just curious as to what you have. Qualified Jewelry Appraiser, Jim O′Bryant, is a Graduate Gemologist (Gemological Institute of America), Independent Certified Gemologist Appraiser, Advanced Personal Property Appraiser (American Gem Society), certified member of National Association of Jewelry Appraisers and will assist you in determining the purpose of your appraisal and educate you to understand the differences at the beginning of the meeting. Since they only work by appointment you will be in the lab during the complete process and you will never leave your jewelry.

Your jewelry is the most precious asset you own whether it represents a new event in your life or a family heirloom. Gem Appraisal Laboratory′s appraisals go into much detail describing your jewelry and also includes a color photograph of each piece. All appraisals meet or exceed the standards established by The American Gem Society (AGS), National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).

Throughout history individuals have searched for the way to make poor quality gems appear to be better quality than they really are or to create gems in a laboratory which are like the natural gem only of lower value. That is why it is important that your appraiser is a gemologist, who can properly identify your gems and is trained in appraising so you are provided with the correct value for the purpose of your appraisal.

Jim has been employed in the jewelry industry since 1971. The elite group of ICGA firms do not buy or sell jewelry. They are dedicated to providing their clients with detailed and accurate independent appraisal service. There are fewer than 30 people in the United States and Canada to hold the title of Independent Certified Gemologist Appraiser™ certified by the prestigious American Gem Society (AGS) as well as being a certified member of National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA). Both titles must be renewed annually by continuing education and/or passing a written examination.
