Jewellery Valuers in NZ
Jewellery Appraisers in New Zealand are more commonly known as Jewellery Valuers. One would normally expect a Valuer to hold a gemmological qualification, typically this would be a Fellowship of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain or the Diploma of Gemology from the Gemological Institute of America. Look out for the post nominals FGA and GG.
Most professional valuers are members of the Jewellery Valuers Society of New Zealand (JVSNZ), the main jewellery valuers' association in NZ. Several are also members of international associations, such as the AIJV.
